Inamo Restaurant on Wardour St has been open for a few months now and has attracted a great deal of interest as one of a few 'concept' restaurants in London.
It's Japanese (although our waitress was Canadian) and it's dark, bordering on seedy. There's not much space between tables but no-one is bothering what you are doing - they are all playing with the cool lighting effects. Your menu is beamed onto your table and you scroll through the food and drink options using your finger. Let's hope the tables are always clean then (ours was). But first choose your 'tablecloth', another image beamed from the projector directly above each table.
Ok, sounds weird but it was kind of fun. For 5 minutes. Then I started feeling a bit sick. It doesn't do much for the food to be brutally honest. It plays with your senses in a wrong way, leaving you feeling a bit confused and a bit nervous. When the food turns up you can't really see what you are eating. But it was all good. It arrived very quickly and the portion sizes were ok. Black Cod was very tasty but pricey at £11.95. Edame beans, rice, wild boar roll, sushi and prawns were all good.
It would be easy to rack up a big bill here - just like conveyor belt sushi the food arrives almost instantaneously and you can lose yourself in dishes. Not helped by the lights that slowly brainwash you. Add beer or wine to the mix and GOD HELP YOU.
Two of us spent £52 quickly and were not full but we had to get out of there - 40 minutes was quite enough.
Photos below - I would recommend that you go once for the experience but it's not a place for repeat visits. If anyone has been during the day I would love to know if it's any different!
