Make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to find out more about “Nebbiolo” one of the world’s greatest red grape varieties, and the food it compliments, on Tuesday 23rd November 2010 at Enoteca Turi, a fine-dining, authentic Italian restaurant in Putney.
Starting at 7pm, proprietor Giuseppe Turi will welcome and introduce guests to the history of this grape, giving a flavour of what is to come throughout the evening.
Dinner will be served at 7.30pm, offering a variety of traditional Piedmontese dishes, including wild mushrooms sautéed in garlic and parsley with polenta taragna and roast and braised rabbit with butter and truffle gnocchi, wilted spinach and pepper salsa; chosen specifically to compliment the Nebbiolo wines on offer below.
Giuseppe comments: “Wines made with this grape crave food, as it is the food which absorbs the tannins and cleanses the palate, leaving you with incredible aromas.”
The evening will be led by Giuseppe and Tom Harrow of Winechap.com, who will explore the differing expressions of this grape variety, both traditional (long maceration and ageing in large casks) and modern (short maceration and ageing in barrique), with the wines of seven producers from four production zones. The highlight will be Barbaresco Asili 2003 Bruno Giacosa whilst others include:· Spanna "Laghetti" Colli Novarese DOC 2007 Vallana
Valgella "Carteria" Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2005 Fay
Barbaresco "Montestefano" DOCG 2001 Rivella
Barolo "Vigna Arborina" DOCG 2001 Mauro Veglio
Barbaresco "Rabaja" Riserva DOCG 2004 Produttori
Barolo "Rocche dell'Annunciata" DOCG 2004 Gagliasso
