Gem Restaurant is a good find, at the far end of Upper St and a few minutes walk from Highbury & Islington tube.
It's always busy and because it offers a bring your own bottle option, it can be a good value destination, especially when you go for mixed mezze between a few of you.
If you're unlucky then you might have to make do with the table at the back of the restaurant by the kitchen, but it's still worth it - nothing fancy but a good option for mid week dining on a budget.
